The work of Parakletos is to come alongside missionaries and national church workers as they proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The name comes from the Greek word Parakletos, meaning one who comes alongside to help; a comforter, an advocate. One who is summoned, called to one's aid. One who pleads for another's cause before a judge; an advocate.
It is used of Christ at the right hand of the Father, pleading for the pardon of our sins. In the widest sense: a helper, aider, assistant.
It is used of the Holy Spirit who was sent to lead the believer to deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and give them the divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom. Whether supplying Bibles to churches, medicines to a clinic, teams to a field, school supplies to an orphanage, emergency relief to a disaster area, or raising awareness about the persecuted church, Parakletos desires to advocate for, and assist those in the field as they lead others to a knowledge of Christ.
