Some Results of Poor Alignment
Zolman Tire understands the importance of keeping your vehicle in good running condition. Not only does a well running vehicle provide you with safety, it also can cost you less to maintain. One of the more expensive expenses associated with owning a vehicle are tires. To ensure the best wear for your tires, not only should they be well balanced and proper air pressure, but your vehicle should be well aligned. Below we have some graphics that will educate you on the different types of bad alignment and the types of tire wear that it can cause.

  Wear From Incorrect Camber
Since the objective in a high-performance wheel alignment is to create as full a tire contact patch as possible during turning maneuvers, camber adjustment is of critical concern. In most cases, especially with strut suspensions, the factory camber adjustments are either non-existent or extremely limited.

Poor Steering and Handling From
Positive and Negative Caster!

The answer is to install devices that permit a wider range of camber adjustment. Depending on the suspension design, this might take the form of an eccentric bolt (often called a cam bolt or crash bolt) that, when rotated to a specific position, will cause the wheel camber to change. Other suspension designs might use a tapered shim that is inserted between the lower strut mount and the steering knuckle/spindle assembly. Yet another approach involves the use of an adjustable "camber plate" that is installed at the strut's upper tower mount.

Wear From Incorrect Toe Angle
These alignment aids are also often available for the rear axles of various front-wheel-drive vehicles (in the form of shims or eccentric bolts).
